Love by a Different Name

Something in the morning made me feel your smile
And I remembered being lost once somewhere in your eyes
I looked across the water and saw a great divide
Through the hazy fog of circumstance you’re on the other side
I think it’s love by a different name
Just like pieces from a broken chain
Handful of memories I tried to save
But they fell right through
I only caught a few
Season after season the days turn to years
Storming clouds, they ran right through me; the rain just turned to tears
So much I meant to tell you when I knew what to say
The winds of change were a constant friend to me; they swept away the pain
Now it’s love by a different name
Just like pieces from a broken chain
Handful of memories I tried to save
But they fell right through
I only caught a few
I’m so happy people love you and you’re surrounded by friends
We stay broken til that day we realize we spend our lives on the mend
A dream needs a dreamer; every heart sings a song
Sometimes they bring us back to sorrow; sometimes they help us along
I think it’s love by a different name
Just like pieces from a broken chain
Handful of memories I tried to save
But they fell right through
Now it’s love by a different name
Just like a pebble skipping over the waves
Couple of ripples winding down the stream
Til they’re out of view
That was me and you
